Our volunteers never cease to amaze me. The other day there was a woman shopping in our thrift store, she began to share with our volunteer about some trouble she was having in her rural home. The heat was broken and there was a water leak. She was at the store to buy some warm clothing to stay warm in her home. The volunteer listened and comforted as best they could, and gave her information about POM's Samaritan Services to help with her household troubles. However, when it came time to checkout, the woman realized she had forgotten her wallet. She was so upset as it is quite a drive home for her and she really needed the warm clothing. The volunteer didn't miss a beat, they took out their OWN wallet and paid for the woman's clothing! Our thrift store volunteers truly ARE making a difference in our community!
